Due to the further works on the Gazela Bridge, carried out by the Public Company "Serbian Roads", the Traffic Secretariat requests the citizens to use the public transportation and alternative directions as much as possible.
As declared for Beoinfo by the Deputy City Secretary, Mr. Branko Smiljanic, the Belgrade inhabitants are advised to have a patient and careful drive at the accesses to the Gazela Bridge and the bridge itself.
"The Traffic Secretariat requests drivers to obey the rules of alternating vehicle passing through while entering the highway, which is the legal obligation, but also a behavior that should be implemented by Belgrade inhabitants, in order to let the traffic go on as quickly as possible. We recommend all our fellow inhabitants to use the tramway and bus public transportation, having separate lanes, as well as to use the Belgrade Train", pointed out Mr. Smiljanic.
He says the Belgrade citizens are recommended to avoid their private cars for moving between the Old and New Belgrade and to use the alternative directions over the Branko's Bridge and the Old Sava's one. Those arriving from the direction of Banovo Brdo, Rakovica and Cukarica, if convenient, may use the road diversion around Belgrade. Unlike last year, the tramway lane to Banovo Brdo and Rakovica is in use, being another option for the fellow inhabitants coming from Cukarica and Rakovica to use the public transportation.
In this work stage, the utmost right and medium traffic lanes on the Gazela Bridge in the direction from the New Belgrade to Nis will be closed. The vehicles will move on the remaining four traffic lanes, two of them for each direction. During this traffic change on the Gazela, the vehicles driving from New Belgrade to Nis will drive in the physically separated traffic lanes, so that any attempt to shift the lane on the bridge itself is not possible. Important note for the drivers driving over the Gazela Bridge in the direction from the New Belgrade to Nis: those wishing to exit the Gazela Bridge on the Mostar traffic loop should shift into the right traffic lane before the Sava Centar traffic loop. The drivers are advised to pay attention while arriving to the Gazela Bridge from the New Belgrade to the advance traffic sign for traffic shifting on the road with separated traffic lanes and to carry out the shifting in due course. The traffic lane from which the exit at the Mostar loop is possible has been marked as the direction to Cacak.
Due to the above mentioned works, there will be changes in the traffic system from time to time – from March 15 to June 23, the entry lanes will be closed in the direction from Vladimira Popovica Street to the Gazela Bridge, from the New Belgrade to Nis, which does not allow driving to the Gazela Bridge from the New Belgrade to Nis at the Sava Centar loop. For the entry to the Gazela Bridge from the New Belgrade to Nis the recommended lanes are the highway entries from the roundabouts near the Arena Belgrade (from the Spanskih Boraca and Antifasisticke Borbe Streets).
From March 15 to June 13, the exit lanes from the Gazela Bridge toward the Bulevar Vojvode Misica and Savska Street will be closed in the direction from the New Belgrade to Nis, which does not allow the vehicles to drive out of the Gazela Bridge toward Belgrade Fair and the Savska Street. For the vehicles arriving from the New Belgrade and the Gazela Bridge, which should turn to the Bulevar Vojvode Misica or Savska Street, we suggest the exit at the Mostar loop toward the bridge located in the extension of the Kneza Milosa Street across the highway. After passing the bridge, turn right to the downward lane toward Obrenovac and then enter the Bulevar Vojvode Misica or Savska Street.
For the vehicles driving from the New Belgrade to Banovo Brdo, we suggest the exit at the Mostar loop toward the roundabout Topciderska Zvezda and the use of the Careva Cuprija loop.
Due to the street narrowing, from March 15 to May 11, the traffic will be slower in the direction from Bulevar Vojvode Misica to the Savska Street and the upward lane from the Bulevar Vojvode Misica to the Gazela Bridge.
The public city transportation lines No. 88, 89 and 601 will drive regularly and for the turn toward Banovo Brdo and the Main Railway Station they will use the Hitna Pomoc loop, in order to enter the Bulevar Vojvode Misica or Savska Street from the Gazela Bridge.
In the opposite direction, these lines will not change their route. In the first work stage, there will be no changes in the tramway lines 3, 12 and 13. Thus, we request the citizens to use these lines in their moving toward Banovo Brdo and Knezevac.
All drivers are requested to adapt their driving speed to the road conditions in the work zone and pay special attention to the installed traffic signs.
